How Often Should You Pin on Pinterest

You’re asking the number one question about Pinterest marketing: how often to post on Pinterest for business? Or how many pins should you actually post per day?

A quick search online results in a wide range of answers. Many of which are outdated and not up to 2026 Pinterest best practices. Yikes, repinning and Idea Pins? Nope and nope.

With over 8 years of experience on Pinterest, let me tell you that so much has changed with Pinterest over the years. So, no wonder you’re confused.

What worked back in the day will land you in the Pinterest spam filter or be blocked today. So please, always be careful who you trust for Pinterest marketing advice.

As a Pinterest Coach for bloggers, creators, and online business owners, I get asked a variation of this question almost daily. And my answer might surprise you, as it deviates from what Google or even ChatGPT will tell you.

I’ll guide you step-by-step through best practices and daily pinning guidelines. Then, outline the daily minimums and safe maximums, what counts as a “fresh pin,” and how to set a realistic posting schedule that works for you.

Spoiler alert: consistency and strategy always beat mindless pinning. So whether your Pinterest account is new or established, let’s get you confident in your pinning schedule.

How Often Should I Post on Pinterest?

You’ve probably Googled “how often to post on Pinterest” or wondered whether you should be pinning 5, 10, or even 25 times a day.

Here’s a quick answer and guidelines for you to follow. Continue reading below for an explanation of why you should limit your pinning to this amount.

The absolute bare minimum you should post to Pinterest is one fresh pin per day. A fresh pin means it’s completely new and has never been saved to Pinterest before.

This is where you should start with a new account. Posting once per day is manageable and enables you to be consistent without burning out.

And of course, those pins should all be optimized for Pinterest SEO. Giving them the best chance to rank in search results and drive clicks to your site or shop.

It’s with consistency, not a crazy amount of pins per day, that you grow your Pinterest account. This is why I do not recommend pinning more than ten times per day. And even that might be too much. Let me explain.

Recommended Daily Pinning

Listen, I’d love to tell you that there’s some universal magic number of pins you should post per day on Pinterest. But there isn’t!

Why? Every Pinterest account is different because every business is different. So, instead, we have generalized guidelines for what works and gets results.

For example, a new blogger with ten blog posts should post less than an established shop with hundreds of products to sell. If you have more unique Pinterest content, then you can, of course, pin more frequently.

Either way, you want to post fresh pins only to Pinterest. This is a key best practice for 2026. No repinning, reposting, or reuploading pins. Make sure they are completely new. (More on this below).

YOUR PINTEREST STRATEGY STARTS HERE

This isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what actually works. So you can stop second-guessing your efforts and start seeing steady progress from a platform designed for discovery.

General Guidelines for Posting on Pinterest:

  • Minimum Pinning Guidelines: To start, I highly recommend posting at least once per day to Pinterest. That’s not overwhelming, and it’s within reach for most—even if you’re short on time or new content.

  • Middle Pinning Guidelines: As you become more familiar with posting to Pinterest, you can increase to 2-3, or even 4-5 new pins per day. For someone with a lot of links, pin templates, a Pinterest scheduler, and a solid Pinterest workflow, this is very doable.

  • Maximum Pinning Guidelines: Avoid pinning more than 10 pins per day. It’s highly unnecessary to post this frequently to Pinterest. I do NOT advise pushing the upper limit. 20 Pins per day is extreme, unless you have hundreds of unique links and pins. There’s no reason to post 50 times per day. That’s very risky, and Pinterest could see your account as spam.

To recap: the safe zone for daily pinning is between 1 – 5 fresh pins per day. On the extreme end: no more than 10 pins per day. You can increase your frequency over time.

Either way, make sure your pins are completely new. New means never posted to Pinterest before.

No, Do Not Pin 25 Times Per Day

As a Pinterest coach, I am upset at how far this Pinterest marketing misinformation has spread. No, you do not need to pin 25 times per day.

And no, that’s not the only way to grow your Pinterest account in 2026. Do not trust or listen to the tech bros on X and in Facebook groups.

Especially if your Pinterest account is new and you don’t have lots of unique links to share. Well-established Pinterest accounts with a long history of pinning can get away with pinning more, but not always.

The risks of overpinning are real and often irreversible. Here’s why you really shouldn’t pin this much in 2026. Side effects of over-pinning include:

  • Getting your Pinterest account flagged for spammy behavior.

  • Having your account shadow-banned and your pins being hidden.

  • Facing outright deletion from Pinterest if things get extreme.

Don’t risk your hard work! If you’re aggressive with pinning (especially recycling the same pin or link across too many boards), you could end up locked out of your account.

Choose Quality Over Quantity

Instead of pushing yourself to pin an unrealistic number of pins per day, focus on being strategic with fewer pins. And posting to Pinterest consistently.

I grew my primary Pinterest account to consistently hit millions of views and thousands of clicks per month, with just 1-3 pins per day. Oftentimes, it’s just one pin per day doing the heavy lifting.
